El Rey Archaeological Zone
A small Maya ruin site within the hotel zone, free to enter, with 47 structures dating to 200 CE and a resident population of iguanas sunning on the temple platforms.
Maya Museum (Museo Maya de Cancun)

Downtown Cancun (El Centro)
The grid of streets around Parque de las Palapas is where Cancun's 900,000 residents actually live, with mercados, taquerias, and Avenida Tulum's shopping strip.
