March and April mark the end of the dry northeast monsoon. Conditions remain excellent with clear skies and calm turquoise waters. April sees the transition to wet season with occasional rain.
The southwest monsoon (May-October) brings more rain, stronger winds, and rougher seas. Dive visibility decreases but whale shark sightings increase. Resort prices drop significantly.
Late monsoon season with September and October being the rainiest months. November marks the transition back to dry season with improving conditions. Prices begin rising.
Peak dry season (December-February) with pristine conditions — calm seas, clear skies, excellent visibility for diving and snorkeling. Christmas and New Year in the Maldives is the world's most exclusive beach holiday.
